"We've been there... calling contractors, getting ghosted on bids or appointments, on our home remodel project over the few years. But Tavos Construction, who was recommended to us by Natural Lighting, impressed us from the very beginning when we started planning for a new pergola and deck. I was very pleased that Tavos returned every call/text we placed to them as we solidified our plans, even going as far as to personally meet us at locations to source materials. We hadn't even committed to them and yet their dedication was unmatched by anthing we've seen previously. And I will always be thankful to Tavos questioning whether we really wanted to go with a deck. We ended up hiring them to install pavers instead of deck with our pergola and I couldn't be happier with the aesthetics and not having to maintain a deck in the future. In addition, their team removed the old cement patio, which exposed additional problems with supporting wall wood rot and an abandoned septic tank we didn't know about. Despite the additional surprises, Tavos helped us through the issues and we have a much better home as a result. Whenever there was a potential issue that appeared hopeless, Tavos knew what to do and knew others in the industry to provide solutions. I can't recommend this company enough to my friends and peers. "I hired Tavos and his crew to come out and rebuild a retaining wall that was built incorrectly by a previous contractor. Tavos was able to evaluate the property and come up with a great plan to deconstruct and replace 200 feet of retaining wall and fence line. Almost all of the work had to be done by hand because of space constraints. The crew did a fantastic job, they were here for 6 weeks, always on time, left the property and the street in front of our house clean and swept everyday. Never left build materials in the driveway, everything was ordered and used the day they needed it. Neighbors who regularly walk by our house observed the three week process of demolition of our old retaining walls, preparation and construction of the new walls, along with the painstaking finishing of the walls and pavers. When we are outside now, neighbors don’t just tell us how fantastic our walls and pavers look, they seem compelled to stop and have a ten minute conversation about the amazing work they witnessed over the space of several weeks, and how impressed they are with the outcome! The retaining wall in our backyard is not angular like it was before, but curved and sweeping which is gorgeous and makes our backyard feel more spacious and inviting. His team worked so hard. They put in full days, every day. They were respectful of our property. At the end of every work day, our property was cleaned up, along with the sidewalk, and they stored all the tools and equipment out of the way. Tavo visited regularly, checking the work, communicating with his team, and talking with us to make sure everything was going according to plan. When we had questions or concerns, he was quick to answer, explain and adjust to make sure we were happy, and all on the same page. After the walls were constructed, the job was finished with bark and new grass seed so that the entire yard looks absolutely beautiful! We did not ask for this, but this is how Tavo works. He wanted to stop by to see how the yard looked, but particularly to assess a new grass seed he used for our project. "My wife and I have been wanting to improve our outdoor living space for a few years but kept putting it off. We found that we needed more space when we entertained family. We had an existing weathered wood deck on the smaller size, with guardrails and a few steps down to a slightly sloped backyard grass area. We did some research and hired Tavo Construction to make this happen. We had some idea of what we wanted, but we were hoping for and open to design suggestions. Gustavo provided design ideas that would improve what we thought our vision was. He was always confident and reassuring with what he thought would look good. He was also very patient in how he explained how this would get constructed. We moved forward with having all of the wood decking replaced with new Timbertech/AZEK PVC decking and adding a complete wrap around, lighted steps down to a hardscaped paver patio area. The patio area has a curved low sitting wall, columns with post lighting and a lit sidewalk that leads to the front driveway. They also installed below grade drainage lines from our downspouts. We are a little particular, so when we saw a few minor imperfections, Gustavo was always quick to respond to our concerns and meet us in the evening to go over the solution. He never hesitated to 'make it right' and adjustments or corrections were taken care of by the next day or two. When we made some design changes along the way, Gustavo was always accommodating to our request. My wife and I are thrilled with the results and can't wait to make full use of our new outdoor space. We highly recommend Gustavo and his very hard working crew to anyone who wants a complete transformation of their outdoor space. "We contacted Tavo after requesting a number of quotes from other companies, which either did not respond or take the time to truly educate us on our project. When Tavo came to take a look at our crumbling retaining wall, he was incredibly knowledgably and confident but also easy to talk to and answered all our questions. He walked us through why he was suggesting what he was as well as explaining how retaining walls should be built (ours had sloppy job of new construction in the early 2000s), what the current codes mandate, as well as the changes that would need to be made to our backyard (lost about 1/2' of grass) Additionally, him and his team inspected the existing blocks that made up our retaining wall and recommended that we could use the same ones as they were in good condition. I appreciated that he did that as I know there are companies out there that would probably have tried to get us to replace everything.
